Under the provision of Sub-Section (1) & (2) of Section 5 of the Right to Information Act, 2005, the Government of Manipur vide Order No.15/6/2016-Com & Ind. dated 19-09-2017 designated the following officers to furnish information to persons requesting for the information under this Act:
- Director (Handlooms & Textiles), Manipur as State Public Information Officer.
- Project Manager (Handloom) of each District as the State Assistant Public Information Officer of the District to receive applications for information or appeals under this Act for forwarding the same forthwith to State Public Information Officer or senior officer specified under sub-section (1) of Section 10 or the State Information Commission, as the case may be.

MISSION FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF TRADITIONAL ARTISANS/CRAFTSMAN (MEETAC)
The State Cabinet in its sitting on 04-10-2017 approved the establishment of the Mission for Economic Empowerment of Traditional Artisans/Craftsman (MEETAC) with Department of Textiles, Commerce & Industry as the Administrative Department. It was initiated by the Planning Department and was transferred to this Director of Handlooms & Textiles. Main objective is to attain the goal self-employment and inclusive development and economic empowerment to traditional artisans/craftsman of Manipur, like, Pottery, Cane & Bamboo Crafts, Jewellery (Gold and Non-Gold), Reed Craft, Stone Caving, Wood carving, Wood Carving, Dolls & Toys, Block Printing, Terracotta, Hand Embroidery (Zarietc) and Tribal arts/crafts, etc. These are all within ambit of Textiles. Hon’ble Minister (Textiles ,Commerce &Industry), Manipur is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to be posted by Department of Personnel, Government of Manipur.
