The Ministry of Textiles, Government of Indiaconferred the National Awards to outstanding weavers and artisansas a token of recognition to their contribution and encouragement to continue with the. In similar manner and with a broader objective to enable the local handloom weavers to participate in the national level competition, the Department of Textiles, Commerce & Industry, Government of Manipur introduced the State Awards to the handloom weavers of Manipur in recognition of their outstanding contribution, craftsmanship & development of handloom. Each award has cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- with copper plaque and a shawl. Each State Merit Certificate has Cash prize of Rs.50,000/- with Certificate.
